The Gea RS has achieved legendary status among freeriders and tourers thanks to its lightness and uphill comfort along with firmness and control on the downhill. This latest version retains the Grilamid/Carbon Grilamid LFT construction that saves crucial weight without losing power, and now uses Grilamid BIO on the shell to maintain performance with a reduction in CO2 emissions during production. Speed Lock Plus and the Wave Closure System make switching from ski to tour mode simple; the Intuition liner is 100% mouldable for the best possible fit. Ability Level Overview Fit Firm hold around the rear foot, medium width across the forefoot and over the instep but being a 3 piece shell there is some flexibility for volume over the top of the foot. Shell Carbon Grilamid LFT and Grilamid shell, Grilamid BIO cuff, mouldable. Carbon Grilamid LFT is a polyamide reinforced with long carbon fibres that improve the elongation resistance properties and the rigidity of Grilamid, without increasing its density when compared with the normal short fibres. This allows a reduction in the thicknesses of the shell and cuff, creating a light product but at the same time still high performance. The Grilamid BIO cuff uses a high bio content polymer that ensures a significant reduction in Co2 emissions, with unchanged properties of stiffness, elasticity and high impact performance. A Pebax Axial Alpine Evo tongue blends overlap power and the ease of a cabrio style entry. Liner Pro Flex Performance, mouldable. The forefoot and the cuff buckles, combined with the instep strap, allows you to easily adjust the volume, locking your foot in securely for the down while still being able to quickly open the boot to allow for a natural uphill stride. Grilamid BIO Grilamid BIO is part of Ems-Grivory's complete line of Greenline bio-based polyamides. This polymer with a high BIO content guarantees a significant reduction in CO2 emissions while maintaining its main properties of stiffness and elasticity and high impact unaltered. In fact, it derives from the synthesis of castor oil. The castor plant does not compete with food crops for the land and is grown in semi-arid areas (India, China, Brazil). It is, therefore, an excellent alternative to polymers derived from fossil sources and is completely recyclable and non-biodegradable.
